Softwood products that are to be exposed to the elements should be made from timber that has been pressure treated with preservatives such as Osmose Naturewood or Arch Tanalith E, but further finishing with quality woodcare products and decorative treatments will enhance the appearance of garden furniture, sheds, fencing etc. and offer further protection.

A wide variety of products for cleaning and protecting decking products is available.

Care products for removing algae and growth are also available and their use on affected timber provides a clean surface for the application of chosen finishes. Finishes with wax ingredients are available to help protect the timber against rain.

Some of these products are available for brush and roller application and some with spray applicators.
