Pallet carbon calculator launched
Timcon, the Timber Packaging and Pallet Confederation, in a joint project with wood for good and Skogsindustrierna, have launched a carbon calculator which compares the carbon intensity of different pallets.
The calculator, developed by ESD (Energy for Sustainable Development), shows how wooden pallets have 'negative carbon intensity', in contrast to pallets made from other materials.
Timcon members will now be able to quote customers exact figures for the carbon savings they will be able to make by using wooden pallets.
Factsheets are available as downloads:
- The carbon intensity of green wooden pallets
- The carbon intensity of heat treated wooden pallets
- The carbon intensity of heat treated and kiln dried wooden pallets
