This unique supply and erect project created 105 terraced, three storey luxury dwellings on an island only accessible via a narrow causeway bridge, giving unique security features. The Stewart Milne ‘Fastrack’ system for timber framed housing offered an ideal solution to this challenging project. The Island was formed from reclaimed soil necessitating a lightweight form of construction. The long, terraced nature of this development, with steps and staggers, gave complications with traditional build methods.

The sales interest was fully capitalised upon and during the project, programme acceleration was vital to ensure comple-tions were met and revenue collected. Due to the high land costs, room in the roof accommodation was a priority. The ‘Fastrack’ timber system offered an ideal solution to this challenging project. The resulting development is a stunning and unique example of modern timber frame housing meeting the needs of private developers.

The financial and operational benefits to the client, Whitbread Plc. were considerable, with the first paying guests staying at the hotel in just over 6 months.
