- As pallets, wooden packing cases provide a quality protection for products during transportation and storage, and can be easily be repaired and recycled
- Packing cases are mainly manufactured from North-European softwood, which with its lower timber moisture contents, make it 10 – 60% stronger than traditional pallet timbers
- The greater use of kiln dried timber, with a moisture content of 20% or less, provides a wider choice for better quality components and helps reduce waste
- Spruce plywood is also used in packaging cases production. It has high strength/low weight properties which help reduce transport costs
- Specially coated plywoods can be used for flight cases and many other heavy duty re-usable packaging solutions
- OSB oriented strand board is similar in use to plywood, but not as strong
- Chipboards are reasonably strong but do not withstand moisture without strength loss.
