Forest cover

In 2005 Europe's forests, including the Russian Federation, covered 1,001,394,000 ha.

They are growing annually by around 661,000 ha.

That's an area about the size of Ireland every decade.

The rate of growth is 0.07% (0.4% excluding the Russian Federation), compared with a global decline of 0.18%.
